She haunts the forest...
Encasing it in a misty shroud Instilling a disconcerting silence ...She'll turn your dreams to nightmares... ----------------- .FULL.VIEW.PLEASE. Time: 7-8 hours Media: Sketched on paper with mechnical #2 pencil CGed completely with OpenCanvas3+ --- Details / Close-ups: This image was to be my 2005 Halloween pic but I never got around to finishing it. I started it last year, but it turned out a lot different from how it was before. For one the style is a lot more realistic and the background...feeling and aura is a lot...darker I suppose. But I really like the results!  I redid the whole thing during the Memorial weekend because it wasn't up to par and I'm quite happy I did. I decided to upload it today because on Friday and Saturday I won't be here so I won't have time to. >.< Well, hope you like! At first I was going to name it "witch of the pumpkin patch", but people might start thinking she really is (when she isn't) so I chose a Light in the Darkness. Not too bad a title either. Sounds cliche though...meh, oh well.Yes. Her hair is supposed to be white without any shading (but with the green highlights). Yes. I suck at birds. v___v Yes. Her skin is supposed to be pale. I was thinking of making it paler but then the hair wouldn't contrast as much. Plus I suck at making "realistic" extremely pale skin. And yeah, she's supposed to look bony/skiny as well [in the arms/hands] No. Her dress is not blue, it's black, but I wanted more color to work with.  Plus the monitor of the computer with the tablet has really bad settings and is really dark so I had to lighten it in order to see what I was doing.Yes. She's a witch.  !!Problems: Hm. I found make her nose... "stand up" quite difficult and now it looks chubby. Ugh. The lips were so annoying, I had to redo them about 5 times, literally. However, I found doing the orb/staff really fun! I like how it stands out in the picture. ^^ And I like the lighting effects, spent quite some time doing that. The pumpkin patch is okay, it was actually brighter but I wanted to keep the picture dark so I toned it down. ...Wow, first real original digital artwork I've done in weeks.  . I'd love to have a bird like that. And, the shadow of the dress on the pumpkins seems odd. Great job  Looks great to me!
Her hair has to be my favourite part. Though, I love the grass and the feathers on the bird <3 The bird looks great to me. The pumpkins are also worth commenting on because they're just so awesome :3 <333 -- There is a lack of grapes within.  Oh Goodness, Oh Goodness, where do I begin!? *O*
I really love that background, the colours of the sky and the way you've done the trees is marvellous!!  Everything looks really professional, and really well done! I love the originality of it all. I mean, even the pumpkins are original despite the whole 'can't have halloween without pumpkins!' thing. Cause they're MASSIVE, IN THE MIDDLE OF A FREAKY FOREST pumpkins. Not your garden variety kind. (I have a strong urge for pumpkin soup now o_o) I really love her pose, and you've done her birdie so weellllll. Her orby thing is beautiful <3 I want one. The only critique I can possibly give is the little leafys. They look a bit out of place and... I 'unno, blank... compared to their surroundings. I was so happy that the background/trees finally looked dark and scary enough. Lots of random layer playing and toning colors and gradients. xD I don't even remember how I did them exactly... hehe...Oh yes! No halloween without its pumpkins~! Yay! I wasn't sure what people would think of my funny looking birdy. The birdy's yellow legs and beak look a little bright though but I didn't know how to fix it. :/Yeah. I realized the leafies were blank as well. As least I didn't save the 100% version with them. Summer's almost here so I've been getting less and less homework from teachers, it's mainly the finals that I need to worry about~! ^^ Thus more time to draw and submit! You need to go upload something too! *pokes* Agreed, I think I made the shadow of the dress a bit too harsh.
